Dixie Winter Audubon Trail is a short, well maintained trail off Porpoise Drive, winding through maritime forest and along salt marsh leading to a view of Fripp Inlet. To assist w/trail maintenance contact Mike Norman at mikenorman@gmail.com


Bluebird Houses on Fripp. Monitoring and maintaining 20 Bluebird Boxes erected by the Nature Center & Audubon Club. To assist contact Kevin Rice at kevinrice@me.com


Christmas Bird Count. December 14, 2023. When volunteers identify, count & record birds on Fripp, Harbor, Horse & Saint Helena Island(s) as well as everywhere else in America! Individual backyard bird counts are also included. To participate, contact Sally Jessee at skjessee365@gmail.com


Climate Watch Bluebird Count. In January 2024 & June 2024, volunteers make 12 five-minute bird observations in a pre-assigned area and submit data electronically. To participate, contact Kevin Rice at kevinrice@me.com


Fripp Island Activity Center. Nature programs, native pollinator garden, collect data for naturalist research projects, wildlife in residence at 8 Veranda Beach Road. To learn more or help, please contact the Head Naturalist, Colleen Goff.


Fripp Island Loggerhead Turtle PatrolOperating under a permit from the SC Dept. of Natural Resources (SCDNR) our 20+ volunteers patrol the beach each morning looking for signs of sea turtle activity. Patrol members have been trained and have been issued letters of authorization allowing them to address sea turtle nests, eggs and hatchlings. Wildlife Tracking System (MOTUS). An international research network that electronically tracks migratory birds and other wildlife. Stations are located on Fripp Island & Harbor Island.
