CAPA's Mission
The mission of the organization is to provide integrated services of education, shelter and counseling to the community, schools, families and individuals in order to prevent the neglect and abuse of children.CAPA is a membership organization which is open to any individual who pays an annual dues amount and supports its mission.
The Child Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA) of Beaufort County, SC is a local non-profit organization founded in 1978 and is officialling through the United Way, Beaufort County government and the State of South Carolina. Over 50% of its annual budget is raised directly from donations and special events. The organization qualifies for Federal tax exemption under Section 501(c)3. CAPA is an affiliate chapter of Prevent Child Abuse South Carolina, chartered by the State of South Carolina in 1980.

Capa's Heart Art Young artists around Beaufort County will have busy hands, minds, and hearts as they create artwork for the Child Abuse Prevention Association’s new initiative, “Healing Arts for Wounded Hearts .” CAPA’s “Heart Art” for short, will allow children in our community to help victims of child abuse and neglect. Children are asked to submit artwork to be used in fundraising activities. Selected artwork will be featured on products such as cards, note pads, etc. The sale of these products will generate revenue to fund CAPA programs. Other entries will be showcased in various places to raise awareness of those in need. Prevention of child abuse is CAPA’s primary objective. The official Artwork Release Form, signed by a parent or guardian, must accompany each piece of artwork submitted. These forms may be picked up at CAPA’s Closet Thrift Store (near Bi-Lo at Parris Island Gateway). All finished artwork should be returned to CAPA’s Closet or mailed to CAPA, PO Box 531, Beaufort, SC 29901. Click on the link above in this paragraph to access the form.
