Dear Parent:
You are invited to join us for a special event being held on May 17th 2008 at Sea Island Presbyterian Church from 10am – 4pm titled, “Faith….Teens……and sex?. May is National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month, and in recognition of this, the Child Abuse Prevention Association, Sea Island Presbyterian Church, and ACCESS Network are sponsoring this one day youth conference with a special focus on teen pregnancy prevention. Participants will take part in the faith -based Sex, Love, and Relationships video series and discussion session. Local doctors, faith leaders, and teen pregnancy prevention professionals will be on hand to facilitate discussions. The message will convey abstinence as the best most effective method of pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease prevention. However, a brief exchange on contraceptives and other forms of protection will also take place.
Attached you will find an outline of the day’s activities as well as a parental permission slip. Participants must be high school students or rising Freshmen. The event is free and lunch will be provided. Youth must have a signed parental permission slip in order to attend. Parents are also encouraged to attend as there will be a parent’s workshop available to run concurrently. Pre-registration is required. We are limiting attendance to the first 50 youth who register and to the first 30 parents who register.
We hope that you will genuinely consider bringing your child to this event. It is a wonderful opportunity for youth to receive a strong abstinence message, and for parents and guardians to learn how to facilitate conversations with their youth regarding issues such as sex.
For more information, or if you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at my office: (834) 524-4350 or email me at: capaaorvin@earthlink.net.
