ESTABLISHING ISLC DIAL-UP
(when Internet Explorer 5.5 already exists on the system)
Windows Millennium Systems:
Establish Dial-Up Connection:
- Click on Start, Settings, Dial-Up Networking, as shown below.
- This will either take you to a wizard, or the screen below:

If you see the screen above, double click on Make New
Connection.

If you see the wizard, continue on.

The first screen you see, will appear as below:



Beaufort: 770-1030
Bluffton: 757-9805

Click Next.
- The next screen will tell you that you have successfully added the new
connection. Click Finish.

- The Dial-up Networking Screen will remain open. Right-click your mouse on ISLC.
Select Properties.

On the Networking tab, as above, Uncheck ALL "Allowed
Network Protocols" except TCP/IP.

All the settings should be as shown above.

Click on the "Security Tab"

Under "Authentication", enter your username, all lower case
letters, no spaces.

Enter your Password, all lower case letters. (The
characters will appear as stars, this is normal.)

Click the "Connect Automatically" button if you
so desire.

All other boxes should be unchecked, as shown above.

Click the "OK" button.

You will be returned to the Dial-Up Networking Window.
Close this window.
Note:if you live in the barracks, before you close Dial-up Networking, right-click the ISLC icon and select Properties. Type 2-3 commas after 770-1030, then type your phone PIN. Click OK. Then, double-click ISLC so the Connect To screen appears. Click Dial Properties and add 9 to access an outside line where indicated. Click OK. Make sure the phone number field reads as follows 9, 770-1030,,,####### (where the # represents your PIN). Click Cancel and then click on the Internet Explorer icon to start the connection process.
Configuring Internet Explorer:
Click Start, Settings, then Control Panel. Double-click on Internet
Options.
- For Internet Explorer 5.X:
- On the first tab that appears, "General" type in
the "Home Page" address as shown.
- Click Connections (tab at the top). The ISLC icon should appear in the Dial-up Settings window. (If there are additional dial-ups that you do not use, you can click and remove them from this window.)

- Click Settings. Type in your username and password in the open field. If you click the Advanced button, you can change your idle time settings. Click OK until you get back to the Connections screen.

- Click Apply, then OK to close the screen. Close Control Panel. Continue with the following to setup the e-mail program.
