The iMac Internet Setup Assistant

To configure your iMac for use with ISLC, simply follow the directions below.


Internet Setup Assistant

A. Locate the 'Assistants' folder on your hard drive (you can click the Apple, then select Assistants),
open it, and double-click on the Internet Setup Assistant icon.


B. Click the 'Yes' button.


C. Click the 'Yes' button.


1. Click the right arrow button.


2. Type ISLC and click the right arrow button.


3. Click the right arrow button.


4. The phone number is (the dial-in access number).
You will need to choose the correct number that is local to your location:

Beaufort:         770-1030
Bluffton:          757-9805

Hampton:        943-4509
Hilton Head:   342-3918

Ridgeland:      726-3075

Your user ID is ________________ . (the dial-in username)
Your password is ________________. (the dial-in password)

When you are done, click the right arrow button.


5. Select No and click the right arrow button.


6. Select No and click the right arrow button.


7. On the first line of the large box, type  208.224.174.10  and return. (default dns ip address)
On the second line of the large box, type  208.224.174.11  (secondary dns ip address)

When you are done, click the right arrow button.


8. Your email address is _____________@islc.net. (the user's email address)
Your password is _____________ . (the dial-in password) Enter the information using lower case letters.
You can leave the 'greater than' symbol in the last box.

When you are done, click the right arrow button.

 


9. Your email account is your username (__________________). (the user's account at the POP server)
The email host is mail.islc.net (the SMTP server)

When you are done, click the right arrow button.


10. Your Newsgroup Host is  cnews.newsguy.com  (the nntp server)

When you are done, click the right arrow button.

 


11. Select the 'No' button.

When you are done, click the right arrow button.

 


Conclusion. Click the 'Go Ahead' button and your iMac will be ready for the Internet!
