Update: July 2, 2002 Sumerset says,
"Mr. Hermes was confused Wrong! A lie! The Inland "conversion" is not an option and Mr. Hermes will NOT be part of it. Mr. Hermes and
others who have been treated so callously by Sumerset are well on
toward legal action against Sumerset. Update: From the Somerset, KY Commonwealth Journal Helton: Yacht club was set up to 'defraud people' By Jeff Neal, CJ Managing Editor Carol Neckel, president of the defunct Sumerset Yacht Club and Lynn Turpin, executive vice-president of Sumerset Houseboats insist the two companies are separate entities. That's hogwash according to a former vice-president of Sumerset Houseboats. Cecil Helton told the Commonwealth Journal last week that, as chief information officer of Sumerset Houseboats, he designed ads, wrote press releases and helped form an accounting chart for the yacht club. .... "On two pieces of paper they may be separate," Helton added. "But it's not true, in principle ... it's the same company" Helton said he felt the whole purpose of the club was to "defraud people." ..."The 32 customers who bought memberships just lost their money," Helton added. "They were defrauded."

Sumerset Yacht Club sold memberships early in
2002 that would guarantee houseboat vacations on Sumerset Custom
Houseboats on Lake Powell, Lake Travis and Lake Cumberland. We paid $15,500 for membership at the Atlanta
Boat Show. About 32 people purchased these memberships.
