About MRS
Beaufort M.R.S. 4B
is one of ten water search
and rescue squadrons located in the
coastal South Carolina / Georgia
area.
The Marine Rescue Squadrons Of America
were formed in response to the
realization that Coast Guard and
other emergency response agencies
could not render assistance to
boaters in distress in all
circumstances. The first M.R.S.
squadron was formed at Tybee
Island, Georgia in 1959.
Beaufort Squadron 4B
formed its charter in July of 1975.
In 1995, 4B received a plaque
from Beaufort County Council in
recognition of 20 years of service
to the citizens of Beaufort County.
