Team Philosophy:
The Beaufort YMCA Aquatics Club is offered to any boy or girl who can successfully
complete 24 yards of any of the four competitive strokes (freestyle, breaststroke,
backstroke and butterfly). Through participation on the team, the swimmer
gains mastery of the four competitive strokes, learns starts and turns
for each stroke, and gains the experience of competing on a team. The YMCA
promotes broad participation in sports, not just fine tuning the athlete.
Teaching the fundamental skills, encouraging lifetime involvement in physical
activity and strengthening the values of fitness, health, self respect,
and respect for others is a central theme in the YMCA sports philosophy.
Participation in competitive swim meets is encouraged but not required.
Practices are arranged according to age and ability.
Masters
(Ages 18 and over)
-
Practices
are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6:30-7:30pm. If you are
a swimmer and want to learn competitive swimming, you are welcome to join
us! For more information, Contact Aquatics Director, Lucinda Davis or Master's
Swim Coach, Rick Hensley.
Lap
Swimming
-
2 lanes
are available at all times for lap swimming. If both lanes have swimmers
in them, we will try to make more lanes available. However, sometimes
other programs do not make this possible. In these cases, we ask
that you swim in a circle in the lanes. Stay to the right side always,
just as you would driving a car.
-
There will
be a dry erase board on the pool deck with workouts on it. These workouts
will be written on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This is an effort
to spice up your workouts. ENJOY!!
Aqua
Aerobics
-
Aqua Power-A

by varying your working depths and positions. Modifications for all levels

-
Senior Aqua-A
45 minute senior water aerobic class designed to improve fitness and range
of motion. Non swimmers welcome!
-
Aqua Jog-A
