Child Care and After School Programs

Child Watch - From 3 months to 5 years old, your child will be well cared for by our staff.  Service is available at no charge to members with a family membership while using the facility. Please remember to sign your child in.

Times:    Monday-Friday 8am-12pm and 4pm-8pm
              Saturday 8am-12pm
              Sunday 1:30pm-3:30pm

Fun Club - 6-12 years old, free to members. While Mom and Dad work out, come join the Fun Club for games, arts and crafts, puzzles, and more...Kids are welcome to bring their homework to complete.

Times:     Monday - Thursday 4:30-7:30pm

YMCA PrymeTime After School Care - The YMCA of Beaufort County provides a fun filled, energetic after school program for children who attend the following schools:  Mossy Oaks, Bluffton, Broad River, Shanklin, Lady's Island, and Port Royal Elementary Schools. The after school sites are located at Mossy Oaks, Broad River, Lady's Island, and Bluffton Elementary Schools.  Our program is designed to provide a safe, nurturing environment after school and during school breaks.  Activities include homework time, arts and crafts, sports, indoor and outdoor games, individual and team building exercises, devotions, and special events.  An afternoon snack is provided each afternoon after devotions.  The child care staff takes special interest in providing developmentally appropriate activities that foster self esteem  and wellness. The YMCA takes pride in teaching and encouraging the four character development traits that we feel are important.  Caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty are taught on a daily basis through words and example.  The YMCA of Beaufort County is happy and excited to provide this program for our community.

Teen Club - After School Program for Middle School

Fall Intersession
During year round school breaks, the YMCA, provides child care.  Intersessions will be held at Mossy Oaks, Broad River, Bluffton, and Shell Point Elementary and will consist of games, arts and crafts, field trips, and much more....

Time: 7:00am-6:00pm
Cost: $60/week for member
        $70/week for non member
        $5 discount for each additional child

Indian Princess/Guides
This is a program designed to aid families in strengthening the relationships between daughters/sons and fathers. "Teepees" (Parent/Child) are assigned to a Tribe, which meets monthly to participate in activities such as earning feathers, arts and crafts, and games. All Tribes will attend nation meetings, which include camp-outs, and kite-flying contest, Polar Bear swim, a trip to Camp Greenville, and more! This program is designed for children ages 4-7. The will be an informational meeting September 12 at 7:00 so mark your calendar and come check it out.

Art-4-Kids
Local artist Tina B. Fripp teaches art classes for children of all ages her at the YMCA. She also offers adult classes. For class times, course description and cost, call the YMCA at 522-9622 or cal Tina at 987-0845.

Teen Programs

Leaders Club
    This is a volunteer club for members ages 13-18. The Leader's Club is designed to teach teens to be responsible and effective leaders in the YMCA and in the community. Teens are encouraged to volunteer and work in programs throughout the YMCA and community. The club meets twice a month on Tuesday from 7:30-8:30pm. We will start back again August 21st.

Youth and government
This program is for high school students to learn how the state legislature operates. Participants will write and debate their own bills and learn how these bills become laws. They will send the bills to Columbia and spend three days at our state's capital to attend a model state legislature. The South Carolina Youth in government program is one of the largest and best youth government programs in the nation. This will start in September.
