The Fripp Island Audubon Club was created in 1978 by island resident Dixie Winter. Working with the National Audubon Society, Dixie spent considerable time and effort forming the club and organizing local and overnight club trips.

Special Chapter Projects;
One of the main projects of our club is to preserve and protect the Loggerhead Sea Turtle
population on our local barrier island. Nature has not given the Loggerhead Turtle very fair odds
when it comes to survival. Our effort is to see that the odds improve. For further information, visit the
Fripp Island Turtle Nest Protection web site for information about our Loggerhead Patrol.
